Our company was awarded the contract for the kfor re-deployment mission that took place in constanta in may and june 2002, may 2003coordinating with the port administration of constanta, we rented the pier to be used and altered or upgraded several constructions enabling a much larger storage area and helicopter pad to be ready prior to the operation. The area was washed down thoroughly to meet us custom regulations. Water and electricity systems were also upgraded so as to match the mission requirements.
Container walls were built around the camp area and pier for force protection purposes. All personnel to be used by company (over 250 people) were scanned for security and were provided a special id card by the company. Names and pictures of each individual were entered on a computer placed at the gate of the pier and all personnel entering or leaving the port area were checked and registered each and every time.
Cargo arrived on trains and was unlashed, offloaded and taken to the marshalling area and from there transfered for staging after being steam washed. Washdown and staging was completed nearly 2 weeks earlier than had been planned. We provided all the necessary manpower and equipment (stevedores, lashers, technicians, drivers, operators, janitors, cranes, forklifts, trucks, lowbeds, steam cleaners, portable latrines, trash dumpsters, signs etc. Etc.) Needed during this period. Portable lighting poles were also supplied to light up dark areas. Finally all cargo was loaded and lashed on two vessels chartered by the military sealift command.
During the whole operation our company worked closely with the military transport management command team ensuring that the mission was completed in a timely and most successful manner demonstrating the companys experience, flexibility and efficiency in its field.
